Meet The Ditchfield Family Singers…
Stephen and Bernice Ditchfield
… the patriarch and matriarch of the Ditchfield Family, and the Musical Director and Assistant to the Musical Director of The Ditchfield Family Singers. Born and raised near Toronto, Canada, these two met and married in their late teens and have been inseparable ever since. Stephen is the consummate performer, an enthralling soloist, the bass in their championship-winning quartet, and the host of the many shows they perform year-round. Bernice is the quintessential alto – she’s never heard a song she couldn’t hum along with in harmony, which is why the family teases her about learning her notes … and not making it up on the spot. She tends to gravitate to the bass notes for some reason! They have spent the last 29 years in the Sarasota area, raising their family and developing one of America’s most versatile family vocal ensembles, encompassing a wide variety of musical styles and genres, and including the individual talents of each of their five children, spouses, and grandchildren. Nathanael and Regina Ditchfield
… Nathanael is the oldest son and started performing at the age of 15 when he joined his first barbershop quartet. In 1993, when the family needed a soprano to “fill-in” for several Christmas Concerts, Regina gladly volunteered and 10 months later, she and Nathanael were married! Regina, an accomplished soloist and performer, had been touring and singing throughout her time at Southeastern College and immediately fit right in, not just with the singing group, but with the family as well. Nathanael and Regina have been married for 29 years and have four sons, two daughter-in-laws, and 3 grandsons and a granddaughter now on the way in March of 2024! Andrew, 27 and his wife Natasha welcomed baby Noah Paul to the world last summer. Christopher, 25 and his wife Sydney have 2 boys, Ezra Brooks and Oliver Dansby. Joshua, 21 works with Regina at PetLift Manufacturing and Timothy, 15, is a junior in high school at The Classical Academy in Sarasota. Nathanael is in full-time ministry and serves as the Administrator of First Baptist Church of Bradenton.
Stephanie Ditchfield
… the youngest daughter in the family, and everyone’s sweetheart! With a vocal quality reminiscent of the likes of Anita Kerr, Stephanie is a multi-talented performer – a First Soprano, and an accomplished ballroom dancer, choreographer and photographer. She is a gifted decorator and event planner and, in addition to singing and traveling with the family, she is a self-employed Licensed Nail Care Specialist, and the proud “mother” of a 10 lb. Chorkie named Thumper!
Michael and Taylor Ditchfield
… As the lead singer in “My Three Sons”, the 2003 Florida State Barbershop Quartet Champions, and particularly as the Assistant Musical Director for The Ditchfield Family Singers, Michael was uniquely qualified to help select a gifted singer to join the ensemble 8 years ago as a back-up and substitute for Gina when baby Timmy was on the way that December: Taylor was the #1 choice! With Michael’s passion for musical excellence, he suggested keeping Taylor on as an ongoing member of the ensemble when her multi- faceted musical gifts added so much to the overall performance of the group that Christmas season. Subsequently, it was no surprise at all when Michael proposed, and Taylor became an official member of the Ditchfield family, marrying Michael almost 8 years ago. Taylor is a self-employed LipSense Consultant and a Licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist, in addition to her many other talents.
David and Katy Ditchfield
… David is the baby of the family but by no means takes a back seat to anyone when it comes to his musical talents and abilities. In addition to being an outstanding singer he is the family’s transcriber and scores some of our most complicated arrangements. Katy became acquainted with the Ditchfield family in August of 2014 when Taylor decided to play matchmaker and introduced David to the love of his life! They were engaged on David’s 26th birthday, and although Katy immediately began singing with the family, she officially became a Ditchfield on September 26th, 2015 when the two said said, “I do!” Katy is no stranger to the stage. She has been singing and performing Broadway and Gospel music since Middle School. Aside from singing, Katy works as a preschool teacher at The Classical Academy in Sarasota and is an independent LipSense Consultant. In her free time, she is delighted to use her expertise as a licensed cosmetologist, and is in demand as a private hair and make-up artist for brides and their wedding parties!
Our oldest daughter Christin Ditchfield Lazo is an author, conference speaker, and syndicated radio show host. She and her husband Andrew join us to emcee our annual Christmas Show at The Sarasota Opera House each year.
