"Quail Creek: Naples, Florida"
Tuesday, December 2, 2008

Our first major Christmas Concert of the year took place on December 2nd at Quail Creek in beautiful Naples Florida. Christmas is our favorite time of year and there is nothing that we love more than singing the music of the season for a full house, whether it is a performance hall, country club, church etc. Some things we love less than singing would be the set up and break down of sound equipment and the traveling to and from concerts. Snowbirds feature prominently in our attendance percentage so we can't really complain about the extra traffic. That being said: Sheesh.

You know that song "Home for the Holidays"? There is one line that always confounds me- "From Atlantic to Pacific, Gee, the traffic is terrific" I can only assume one of two things. 1) The person who wrote that song has never actually driven Florida in December or 2) I have been using the word "Terrific" out of context for years- but I digress... That's all a blog really is- random digressions. Anyway...

Where was I? Right- Quail Creek. Once we arrived and set up the PA (personal amplification A.K.A. sound equipment), everything went pretty well. It was a very unique experience in that the stage was set up towards the middle of the room but the only tables were set up to the far right and left sides, respectively. So half of us sang to one side and half of us sang to the other side. We're always up for new experiences. Personally I sang to the buffet table because I didn't really get a chance to eat much beforehand. Oh well :) Everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy the event and we are arranging a return performance sometime in '09. Well, that's it for now boys and girls. I'll try and do better next time. Until then... Stay happy and healthy
